Things to do with the kids this summer in London

Laid-back lidos
When the weather gets warmer, kids love to be outside in the sun. So grab your sun cream, dig out the bathing costumes and head to one of London’s many outdoor swimming pools for a refreshing dip. Perhaps take a trip to London Fields Lido for a splash in the sun or take a dip at Charlton Lido and get stuck into some aqua-activities. Check out the best of London’s lidos here.

Fun at the farm
Despite living in the bustling city of London, you’re never too far from a family friendly farm park where you can give your kids a taste of rural life. Pop your wellies on for an outdoor adventure at Mudchute Farm, where you can not only frolic with your favourite farmyard animals, but also take part in activities and crafts at their free play sessions. Discover more urban farms here.

All aboard a boat trip
You might have lived in London for a lifetime, or maybe for just a day, but it’s easy to forget the fun that’s right at your fingertips. Thames boat trips are a great way to explore the city you live in and the kids will love the excitement of cruising down the river that sits on their doorstep, letting you appreciate it from a different angle too. From relaxing on the famous Thames Clipper to sampling the amphibious Meridian Duck Tours or endeavouring on a high-octane and exhilarating Thames RIB Experience, there are plenty of boat trips to enjoy with your family.

Make memories in museums
When the Great British weather is looking glum, the array of museums in London comes to your aid. As well as the usual science and natural history museums, there is the London Museum, teaching children all about the history of the City of London, using interactive games and activities. With interactive experiences and educational events, a day at the museum will help you keep the kids entertained no matter what the weather throws at you this summer.

Theatre Thrills
This summer is also a great time to introduce your children to the joys of the theatre scene in London. The perfect way to end a fun-filled family day is with a show-stopper like Horrid Henry, a time-old tale like Hansel and Gretel, or the hilarious Horrible Histories to make this summer one to remember.
