Estate Agents Aldgate & letting agents Aldgate, E1

Leaving the East End, the DLR and the docks behind, Aldgate is an introduction to the architecture of the City and some of the best-known London landmarks.

At Franklyn James we believe in no half measures, we are transparent in how we do business, committed to achieving your goals, and we take pride in every element of our work. If you’re thinking of selling, letting, or using property management across the Aldgate area, let us be frank, you need Franklyn James.

The gateway to Canary Wharf’s financial district, Aldgate is brimming with energy, as there is so much on offer. It is home to the Baltic Exchange, whose history spans over 250 years, and the origins of which can be traced back to a coffee house that was a meeting place for sea captains and merchants.

Today, the Exchange is the world’s leading source of independent maritime market data. A purpose-built exchange at 30 St Mary Axe was used from 1903, but sadly in 1992 a terrorist bomb badly damaged the building, including one of its key features, the memorial dome. Standing in its place today is the city’s iconic ‘Gherkin’, and the Exchange is now situated at 38 St Mary Axe. The Gherkin is not the only architectural highlight of the area, as dynamic new developments of luxury apartments, commercial spaces and offices decorate the skyline. If you’re looking for something with more character, you can also find gorgeous Georgian houses and spacious converted warehouses.

Fulfilling your lifestyle aspirations

Aldgate is a fantastic location if you like shopping, as the two adjacent streets Wentworth and Middlesex are home to world famous fashion and clothing stalls. Petticoat Lane Market may only be open on a Sunday, but you can find almost anything there, so it’s well worth making a special trip.

Another renowned market in the area is London’s oldest, Spitalfields, offering art, interiors, cutting edge fashion and also a wide range of foods.

There are a number of galleries in the area, including one of the finest in East London – Whitechapel Art Gallery. For over a century it has premiered world-class and contemporary artists such as Pablo Picasso, Mark Rothko, Sophie Calle and Thomas Struth. StolenSpace is a gallery packed with urban art from artists with a background in street and graffiti art. The Hoop and Grapes in Aldgate was one of the few timber-framed buildings to survive The Great Fire of London in 1666. This traditional pub serves a range of real ales and delicious pub food.

Getting around

As you would expect, Aldgate is extremely well connected, with a number of Underground stations in close proximity. Aldgate is on the Circle Line, and Aldgate East is served by the District and Hammersmith & City Lines. Many bus routes also pass through Aldgate, including the 15, 25, 67, 115, 135, 254, N15, N205 and N550.

What our clients say

“Franklyn James have rented my properties for many years, and whilst I get approached from many other agencies, I wouldn't go anywhere else. My properties have pretty much zero void periods, rents are paid on time, and their property management team is tip top in terms of response times and service. I used other agencies in the E14 postcode prior to Franklyn James, and am glad I signed up with them (which is now over 10 years ago). The team have been both exceptional and supportive - Gary Atkins, Joanna Socko (who have been there forever - which is always a very good sign when you choose an agent). Bottom line, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Franklyn James. Great agency.”

Philip Pataky

“Marks professionalism, dedication and hard work on securing our property was outstanding. His ability to cut right to the important points and get business done efficiently is a great skill that people really need from their agent when looking for a property. The fact we both had the same designer socks on that day secured the deal but not sure how he did that :) Thanks for all your help it has been a pleasure dealing with you.”

Alan Quinn-Byrne

“Worked with Danny, had a very smooth moving experience :) Danny is very helpful and attentive to details, you are in good hands with him!”
