Selling your property? Don’t bank on a Christmas lull – it’s the most wonderful time of the year!

For some, the run up to Christmas may not be particularly conducive to the buying or selling of Properties throughout East London, there are statistics that prove this, but that’s not to say that eyes are off the proverbial balls as soon as November spills into the festive froth of December.

Figures from Rightmove suggest that despite a gradual slowdown in online viewings in December, traffic to the property portal significantly picks up after the 25th, peaking on the 2nd January which, according to the website, is their third busiest day over a twelve month period. Last Years record day was 19th February according to Rightmove – see the Latest stats Here

“Our research found that the busiest day on Rightmove this year was 19thFebruary, with page views exceeding 40 million. The busiest day of each week was a Tuesday and the busiest time of day to search properties in 2018 was at 8pm.” *Rightmove Stats

We don’t proclaim to dissect these stats through the lens of cognitive science, but logic would dictate that once the turkey and mince pies have had time to digest and the wrapping paper comes off, attentions turn to aspirations and resolutions for the new year – making a fresh start and moving home, for example.

Outcome the mobiles, tablets and laptops as the nation collectively flops on the sofa and thousands of property searches are carried out over the holiday period, reaching an apex in early January.

Although we do understand the concerns of property sellers at this time of year – you certainly don’t want your property to appear stale and ‘unbuyable’ – With the spike in traffic over the Christmas period never has it been a better time to list your property.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
